She's A Movin'

Lauryn has officially progressed from rolling everywhere to moving via the military crawl! She also enjoys crawling backwards. She is very intrigued by the bar stools at our counter, and wants to "crawl" over and chew on them.

Peek-A-Boo!

Lauryn loves to play peek-a-boo, especially with the T.V.! As you can see below, she peeks through the table in order to sneek a peek at the T.V. What a little ham she is!

We took her 8 month pictures with an outfit that we could "think spring" with! We will certainly need to remember the bright colors and sunshine this week as it doesn't get above single digits.

Megan stayed home with Lauryn today, as she continues to have a cough with lots of mucus and a very snotty nose. This means little to no sleep for both Lauryn and mom at night. She took Lauryn in to the doctor to make sure it wasn't anything more than a virus, and that was confirmed. Although Lauryn wasn't feeling well, she was still able to wave hello to the nurses and clap and giggle for them. They probably didn't think she was sick at all through all those smiles!! She seems to be feeling a bit better this evening, and hopefully that means good sleep for all.

STAY WARM!

Gruis Family Christmas

This weekend, we were able to meet up with the Gruis family to celebrate Christmas. We hung out at the Days Inn in Brookings, SD, as Brookings is about in the middle for Eric's brothers to travel east, and for Eric's dad, grandma, and us to travel west. Eric's mom is just a few short miles from Brookings as well. We always have such a blast seeing all the nieces and nephews, and of course we enjoy seeing the brothers and Eric's mom! It was extra special this year, as Lauryn got to meet all of her cousins for the first time, and she also got to meet her Uncle Tim.

We ate lots, watched the kids swim in the pool, and had fun catching up. Lauryn got to swim for the first time. She seemed to really like the pool, especially trying to drink the water. Eric had a hard time trying to contain her, as she just wanted to put her head in the water and squirm away.
We planned to stay through Monday, but we learned the hard way that Lauryn does not sleep well in the hotel environment. She wouldn't sleep anywhere except cuddled up with mom or in the bed with mom & dad. Since we hadn't ever slept with her in the bed with us, we couldn't get any sleep, and she jumped every time we moved. Needless to say, the trip to Wal-Mart at 4am didn't wake anyone. We were afraid Lauryn had a temp, and needed to get a thermometer, Tylenol, and another nose aspirator, as she was having trouble breathing. Luckily, the trip was just the trick, as Lauryn fell asleep in the car, and stayed asleep when we got back to the hotel. Mom and dad managed to sleep for a few hours then, too. Guess we weren't willing to do that all over again, as we headed home early afternoon. It was a good thing we did, as Lauryn's stuffy nose turned into a nasty cough, and she continues to have trouble sleeping because it is hard to breathe through that nose and cough.

As always, it was nice to visit the SDSU campus. It changes so much every year that it is hard to recognize the campus and know how to get around anymore. Love the memories that SDSU and Brookings bring up! And thanks, Amanda, for the wonderful visit!
