Busy Baby!

Our little Lauryn had a busy week!

She experienced her first afternoon at daycare, which went well. We figured she would sleep nearly the entire time, as that is her nap time at home, but it was the opposite. She was stimulated by the other babies in the room, as she only slept for 45min, and was awake for over 4 hours while she was there. While there, they read Peter Rabbit, she had time in the bouncie chair, and she had tummy time. The report said she was "happy" and "cuddly"...sounds like our baby! When Megan went to pick her up, she was a bit worried, as the nursery was dark and no one seemed to be around. After making her way downstairs, she realized that pick up is 10min before 6pm, and not 6pm, and most kids are gone by 5pm. Oops. Oh well, Lauryn had to 2 teachers all to herself and she was smiling and cooing like crazy!

We also had our first trip to the ER, as we had an accident with the stroller. All was well, but as over-protective, first time parents, we were willing to foot the bill for the sense of peace to know a professional checked her over and would say that everything was OK. Long story short, the breaks gave out on the stoller and it went rolling down a small hill and toppled over. Yes, Megan feels like the worst mom in the world, but has been reassured that there is a reason it is called an "accident." Lauryn cried for about 10 seconds and then was back to her normal self. Megan was more worked up than Lauryn! A few red spots on the head and cheeks and all is well.

Lauryn had lots of daddy time, too! With dad, she is learning how fun it is to shake a rattle, play with wooden spoons, roll over, make crazy baby noises, and has begun to love the soothing sound of a sander. Since Megan isn't contracted to work yet, but yet she is..., Lauryn also got to spend time in the afternoons with mom at work, while dad headed off to work. Of course, she was held and hugged and loved by everyone in the office, and she continues to be the "tiny smiley baby" that people can't keep their hands off of!

Off to a 1st birthday party on Saturday. Lauryn is excited about the gift she picked out for her friend Madelyn!

Growing with PEEF!

In our baby book, it recommends taking a picture in the same spot with the same stuffed animal every month in order to recognize growth. That is what we have been doing with PEEF every month. Here are months 1-2-3, and you can certainly see the changes! Lauryn is up to 12lbs 4oz and has surpassed doubling her birth weight of 5lbs 15oz.

Cabin FUN!

We were fortunate to win a silent auction bid at church, which led us to a cabin near Siren, WI for four days. It was great to be able to relax, spend some time on the water, watch Eric fish, and just be without worries for a few days. Lauryn was an awesome sport, as she enjoyed wearing her life jacket on the pontoon, and had fun watching daddy, Thor, & Odin fish and play in the water. She even caught her first "baby" fish...oh wait, that was Eric catching those off the dock! The good 'ole misquito population was out with a vengence, so we enjoyed nature from the screened in porch. The pontoon only stalled on us once, and we were lucky to get a hold of some people who live on the lake year round to come out and give us a nice little tow back to the dock :-) It was much appreciated as beaching the pontoon and walking 1/2 way around the lake with an infant may have put a damper on things! As always, Lauryn's easy going demeanor allowed us to enjoy every minute and know that we can certainly take her on adventures, as she adapts quite well!

3 months & counting...

Little Miss Lauryn is 3 months old today, and is enjoying it by looking at the back of her eyelids. She took a 3 1/2 hour nap this afteroon. Yippie! Megan was able to get a lot done, including getting pumpkin and squash prepared in Food Saver bags for Lauryn to eat in a couple of months!

Lauryn had her first overnight stay with Grandma & Grandpa McMahan last weekend. Not sure who enjoyed it more - Lauryn or the grandparents! We were able to take some naps, do a little shopping, go for walks, and Lauryn even get her first "ride" on Uncle Buster's Harley!!

We are off to a cabin near Siren, WI through Tuesday for some relaxation before Megan heads back to work. Once we get back, she is back to work nearly every day until school starts. Fortunately, Lauryn will be able to stay home with Eric most days. Her one day at daycare will be the afternoon of Aug 25th, then she will start Wed-Thurs-Fri afternoons September 1st. Where has the summer gone?

As a 3-month old, Lauryn loves to bounce in her jumperoo, drool all over herself, hiccup, take naps on daddy's chest, roll over from her stomach to her back, sit-up with some pillow assistance, repeat back crazy baby noises to mom and dad, suck on her hand, grab for toys, and just smile, smile, smile! She enjoys long stroller walks, car rides, bath time, and sleeping from 8-10 hours a night. If you know a male 3 month old who enjoys the same things, you can hook them up at babymatch.com!!!

12 Week Pictures

Miss Lauryn is 12 weeks old and seems to love life! She is smiling up a storm, is amazed with her hands, enjoys sucking on her hands, can sleep anywhere, and is just a joy to be around.
