Lauryn's 1st Christmas!

We had a great time this Christmas and it was a joy having Lauryn around to celebrate. We were home on Christmas Eve, and had a nice visit from Lauryn's Godfather, Turtle. They enjoyed playing and eating wrapping paper together! We met up with Eric for the late 10pm candlelight service, as he was able to get off of work a bit early. Megan had put Lauryn to bed at 6pm, knowing she would be up for a few hours at church, but secretly hoping she would sleep while at church. This was not at all the case. She was wide-eyed and entertained everyone during the 10pm service! She was smiling and happy and showing off in her Christmas dress.

On Christmas Day, we had a wonderful morning reading the Christmas story and opening gifts as a family of 3! We were blessed with thoughts from afar, as we opened gifts from Grandma Gruis and Uncle Brad & Aunt La Jena. We are excited to spend time with the Gruis family in a few weeks, as we will get together to celebrate.

On Christmas Day afternoon, we spent time with the McMahan family. Uncle Buster & Carrie, and Grandpa & Grandma McMahan were thoroughly entertained by Lauryn. Who wouldn't be with her in her Santa outfit?!?! We spent time playing with Lauryn, playing games, and watching Lauryn eat wrapping paper and anything else in sight. She even enjoyed the first taste of a pickle and enjoyed it!

On Sunday, Eric & Megan were able to spend some quality "couple" time, as Grandma & Grandpa babysat while they went into Rochester for an afternoon/evening together. It was nice to be able to run into stores without carrying Lauryn. And what a joy to eat a quiet meal together, watch a movie, and spend time with friends!

Lauryn was able to see Megan's godmother Janet on Monday, along with Janet's granddaughters. Hard to believe they are teenagers, and it is even harder to think that Lauryn will be their age in a short 14 years! AGH....

We are excited for Grandpa Gruis and Uncle Sam to come over on Tuesday to eat some chili and watch the Vikings game!
